At
an early age, Host and "Spirit Master"
John Vogel aspired to have a career in entertainment. From putting on shows
in his home at age 3 to a professional acting and music career in Los Angeles,
he found the knack of entertaining people to be his life. And what better way
to hone his skills as an actor, but to entertain people - while supporting himself
- as a bartender.
John's bartending career started in Boston some 10 years ago on the "Boston Harbor Cruises" while attending college to supplement his income. After moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting and music, John began honing his skills as a bartender and performer at the world renowned Le Café'. He later was hired at the popular Alley Grill where he and his partner began polishing their bartending act into a regular weekend draw. Their energetic show resembled the popular movie "Cocktail", attracting customers from all over southern California. It was here that John was given the nickname "Spirit Master" for blending his own special elixirs along with entertaining the crowd.
Born in Bath, Ohio, John began taking classical piano lessons at the age of three. He pursued his musical calling and ended up at the Berklee College of Music as a percussionist. His career choices eventually led Vogel into acting where, to supplement his income, he worked as a sound engineer, ski instructor and a bartender while taking acting classes from Mark Ciglar and Sal Romeo.
His ambition and persistence landed him the role of "Ned Beals" in the independent award winning film Jesus 2000 seen in 13 countries. Other film credits include the lead in director Jae Woo Parks' film, Revenge on Reality: Vice Academy 6, directed by Rick Sloane, and Dark Red, a film written and directed by T.L. Lankford, the king of the generation-X movie genre. Recent TV credits include Soldier of Fortune, Inc. starring Brad Johnson and Tim Abell, directed by Peter Bloomfield: Burt Luddins, Love Buffet on HBO and a Guest Starring role on the highly acclaimed cult series, Sightings. All these TV and film roles provided Vogel with a platform to demonstrate his skills as a dominant actor.
Vogel is developing a promising stage career for himself as well. His appearances in Los Angeles theater include A F.A.T.E. production of the hilarious Australian romantic comedy "A Little Bit of Sin Keeps You Honest". Last year he landed the lead role in "The Firebrand", a story about the struggle of a niece and nephew against their demonic Aunt over the ownership of an alternative newspaper their Uncle ran for 25 years. He performed in "Danny and The Deep Blue Sea" and "Women of Manhattan" at Friends and Artists and the Playhouse in the Foothills production of "Casting Agency". Vogel has also appeared in "Cover and Careless Love", directed by the renowned Sal Romeo at the Westside Playhouse.
