Johnny's most excellent Margarita!

Summer is here again and that mean fun, sun and barbecues!! And if you want to be the king or queen of the "cue", then try out this recipe to kick off the fun.

Items needed - Ice, Tequila, Triple Sec, Roses Lime Juice, Sweet and Sour Mix, Margarita Salt- AND for an extra kick, Grand Marnier or Chambord! Blender Optional.

Start with the following:

1 Glass filled with ice

2 Parts Tequila

1 Part Triple Sec

1 Part lime juice

1/2 Part Sour Mix

1 lime wedge, sliced sideways, to the rind.
Yes that's all you need, but the preparation is as important as the drink.

  1. If you like salt on your Margarita's, wipe the rim of your glass with the lime wedge and dip the glass in the salt TIP: Remember to use "margarita salt" and not table salt. The two are very different in taste and consistency.
After the rim is salted, place ice in the glass.
  2. Place 1 cup of ice in a standard shaker along all ingredients. TIP: If you like it sweeter, add more sour mix and a bit more triple sec.
  3. Shake ingredient until the shaker is so cold, you can barely hold it any more! And if that's not cold enough for you, our Mix Masters "Martini Mitts" will help keep your hands nice and warm while shake that container 'til your drink is nice and cold!
  4. Pour your Johnny's Most Excellent Margarita into you chilly glass. TIP: I know my margarita's are properly shaken when I pour the cocktail into the glass and there appears to be a "foamy" layer floating on the top!
  5. Garnish by adding the lime wedge on the edge of the glass or twisting the wedge into the glass. TIP: Always remember that the way your drink looks will directly affect the way it's enjoyed! Spice up the delivery and you'll spice up the fun!
  6. OPTIONAL AGAIN!! If you like your Margarita's smother or less strong, place all your ingredients into a blender and blend away! TIP: As your margarita is blending, watch the consistency of the blend. Is it to thin? Add ice. I love my blended Margaritas to be thick and frothy!
  7. OPTIONAL AGAIN!! If budgets aren't a huge concern, then try adding a topper of Grand Marnier or Chambord! TIP: A topper is just a layer added to float on top of your drink. Just pour a small amount around the glass, just inside the rim. When you're done you should see a noticeable layer on the surface. When adding Grand Marnier, this is called a Cadillac Margarita!

AND REMEMBER, THE KEY TO A GOOD TIME IS RESPONSIBILITY!
